WebOS2006 Open Source Programming Marathon is Over

Yerevan, Armenia, October 23, 2006 –WebOS2006 open source programming marathon which was the closing event of the IT month in Armenia is now over. The results are published on the https://webos2006.com; the winners are known and perspectives are being developed.

WebOS2006 programming marathon was a peculiar and unprecedented event not only in Armenia, but in the whole world as well. Besides stimulating open source programming, the marathon is also a new perspective for IT sector development in Armenia. It enables creation of a community of specialists, development of Armenian IT product.

111 individuals and teams were registered to participate in WebOS2006. A web programming task was given to them, which enabled participants to show a free approach and present interesting creative and innovative solutions.

 55 teams were registered at WebOS20 framework at the moment of start of WebOS2006 marathon task implementation, which took place on 14 October at 11:00. Till October 15, 11:00 25 teams had submitted their works, 13 of which were working applications. Those working applications were placed on http://webos2006.com website and presented for public rating and committee assessment.   

Rewards and nominations decided by the committee: WebOS2006 Champion, WebOS2006 2-nd place, WebOS2006 3-rd place, WebOS2006 Best design, WebOS2006 Original implementation will be given to the winners on October 25, at 19:00 during party at “Aragast” café.

WebOS2006 marathon web site must be maintained and promoted further in internet. These open source applications without authority right problems are accessible for the society and can be used and improved. It is intended to make the WebOS2006 open source 24 hour programming marathon traditional and organize WebOS2007, WeOS2008, etc.
